ust in time for Halloween, Historic Hotels of America | Historic Hotels Worldwide has released their list of the Top 25 Most Haunted Hotels in America. More of a tongue-in-cheek and “spirited” look at some of the nation’s most storied historic destinations, the Le Pavillon, New Orleans, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, and a recent historic preservation and hotel brand conversion project led by Premier, made NHA’s 2025 list.
Le Pavillon, locally celebrated as “the Belle of New Orleans”, was originally constructed in 1907, and was added to the Historic Hotels of America register in 1994. Over the decades, guests have come to know Phillipe, a playful spirit who has been credited with harmless pranks across the property. According to legend, Phillipe’s favorite haunts include the hotel’s new Frenchman Suite, where the suite’s baby grand piano can sometimes be heard playing by itself, or in the hotel’s new speakeasy Bar 1803, where glasses on unattended tables have been heard to “clink” in toasts to guests from generations past. Far from frightening, Phillipe has become a charming part of the Le Pavillon experience, and a reminder that the past never truly leaves us; it simply lingers, in style.

Pictured here, The Frenchman Suite, inspired by New Orleans’ notoriety as the birthplace and heart of America’s musical traditions, features a baby grand piano and wall clad in classic vinyl records, sheet music, and concert playbills from the jazz and blues clubs along nearby Frenchman Street. Also shown, Bar 1803, inspired by the rich color and layered complexity of the ruby-hued Sazerac cocktail, this luxurious bar is earning a reputation as NOLA’s newest speakeasy. Both spaces were designed by Premier’s Interior Design team, with technical expertise provided by Premier’s Project Management and Corporate Engineering teams.
